The Newfoundland Club

We had a really good weekend. We had 42 entries, the weather was kind to us, and the stewarding was excellent, which made the two days go really well.

Firstly, I would like to thank the Newfoundland Club for inviting me to judge. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the excellent work of both handlers and dogs. Thanks also to my co-judge, Clive Haylock; his experience was very welcome.
Despite it being a hot day, the dogs seemed keen to work.
The element that caused the most problems was the underwater retrieve: a few dogs appeared to have no interest whatsoever in looking for it, let alone attempting to pick it up, which was surprising given that the shallow water was crystal clear! As is often said, this is an exercise that can be practised at home.

We had eight entries for D. There were some great passes, and some that weren't quite as good. The weather was kind to us, and the stewards worked hard to ensure everything ran smoothly.

It was a beautiful, warm, overcast day, perfect for swimming. We had three passes and three fails, some of which were very close and we are sure will succeed in the near future.
